The word datathon comes from English, formed by the terms data and thon, from marathon. It consists of a competition in which analysts seek to develop solutions, infographics, narratives and new perspectives based on a large volume of data available. Differently from a hackathon, a datathon offers an open window: people from different places around the world can participate in the competition without the need of being physically ate the same place, and the deadline is longer, allowing the production of more robust solutions.
